Structured wiring is extremely useful and versatile. It has more uses than most people can think of, and the list of things that can be done with structured wiring is growing every day.

Here are some examples:

This illustration shows a very basic layout. Here, all of your TV and phone cables are run back to the media panel for easy access and future expansion. This system is much easier to work with than mounting a standard splitter and phone block to your ceiling.

This illustration simply shows that a fax machine or other office equipment can be easily added to your system along with more TVs and phones.

This illustration shows a little more advanced layout. Here we have networked computers together. With this application you can effectively print and fax from any computer in your home without needing separate fax machines or printers, as well as share a high-speed Internet connection. Some equipment (such as certain Digital Video Recorders) can be hooked to your home network and accessed from any TV in your home, or even from the Internet. That's right. You can record shows at home, even when you are not there. With a layout like this, you will find new uses for your equipment than you ever knew where there.

This layout is essentially the same as the previous one, but with added Whole House Audio.

First of all, there are many names for essentially the same thing. Some call it smart wiring, media wiring or structured media, while all may be right, the customer isn’t any less confused by what is meant by all of this fancy ‘lingo’. In order to understand the value of the system, we need to identify the basic areas of its operation. Those areas are: Communication, Entertainment and Security. Each of these areas has within them several options of use. The following is a brief outline of some of those capabilities that make whole home media systems a viable addition to any home.

COMMUNICATION
Communication is a broad term that we will use to describe the phone system. Our structured home wiring system allows for up to four separate phone lines to be available at any one or all locations. Certain lines can be limited to certain locations. A good example is: say your home has one line for an in-home office, a fax/computer line, a main house line and possibly one for your teenage occupants. These lines are routed to the exact location they are to be used. If anything changes, like your teenager moving to that spare room in the basement, you can also move their phone line to the new location simply by unplugging and relocating a patch cord in the main media panel.

ENTERTAINMENT
Entertainment covers a large portion of the systems capabilities. Cable and satellite TV signals can be sent to any location in the home. Also possible is the option of having your own in home movie channel. Send the signal from your VCR or DVD player to any or all TV’s in the home. Music or sound from the TV or stereo can be routed to each room in the home. Place speakers and volume controls for individual control in each room or for a house full of music. No need to be in the same room as the equipment in order to control it. Install the remote repeater system and control the TV, Cable, satellite or stereo receiver from anywhere in the home.

COMPUTER NETWORKING AND INTERNET SERVICE
As part of family entertainment or family business, networking computers and computer equipment for use anywhere in the home is another valuable resource of the structured wiring system. Connected computers can share information, equipment and one Internet account. No need to have a printer next to every computer, print on the network and have the document printed at a conveniently located whole-house printer. When networked, several computers can access the Internet from one account, all at the same time!

SECURITY
When things go ‘bump’ in the night, wouldn’t it be nice to see what’s going on without having to leave your favorite chair. With the integrated security camera system and the installation of outdoor cameras, you can do just that by flipping to your own security channel right on the TV in front of you. Several cameras can be sequenced for viewing automatically every 5 to 30 seconds. The outdoor cameras even include sound! If you have a young family or a newborn, indoor cameras are available for installation in any room of the house for keeping track of what’s going on. The indoor camera is no bigger than a single wall light switch and is flush mounted into the wall.

With all the options, the capability of a home structured media system is almost endless. These systems may be tailored to the customers’ needs and economic preference.
